Compassion for the Prodigal

in Forgiveness/Unforgiveness God's Love

This is the Bible Minute.

Jesus told the story of a young man who demanded an early withdrawal on his inheritance. He took the money and he ran to a distant city, and there he lost it all in a series of bad decisions. Home was the only place he had left, but he wondered if he would still be accepted there.

Jesus continued the story, "So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him" (Luke 15:20).

This is the story that we often call the Story of Prodigal Son. But a better title would be the Story of the Compassionate Father. Will you still be accepted? I want you to know this: The Compassionate Father still waits for the return of his wayward children.
